Look up the name David Sancious and you’re likely to find reviews of his keyboard-inspired albums, or his tenure with Bruce Springsteen’s E-Street Band.
And it’s a discography to be proud of.
When I picked up the1976 album by David Sancious & Tone, “Transformation (The Speed of Love),” the first spin was a sucker punch. I was head over heels for fusion at the time, and the four selections on this album threw me into another orbit.
But it’s one tune on this Tone collection that is pure guitar heaven. “Sky Church Hymn #9,” inspired by the vision of Jimi Hendrix. Close your eyes, and he’ll kiss you.
